Ring Size Guide

Finding the right ring size is essential for comfortable everyday wear. Use our tool to determine your size in a few steps, then find all our advice for choosing precisely.

How do you measure your ring size?

To determine your size accurately, two methods are especially effective: measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits you, or measure your finger circumference directly.

Measure an existing ring

Choose a ring that fits you well and that you wear on the same finger. Measure its inside diameter at the widest point, without including the thickness of the metal.

For a more precise measurement, ideally use calipers and note the result in millimeters.

For example, an inside diameter of 17.2 mm corresponds approximately to a European size 54.

Measure your finger circumference

Wrap a flexible measuring tape around the finger on which you want to wear the ring. It should fit snugly without compressing the finger.

Note the circumference obtained in millimeters. In European sizing, this measurement corresponds directly to your ring size: a finger circumference of 54 mm therefore corresponds to a size 54.

For greater accuracy, take the measurement several times and choose a moment when your hands are neither especially cold nor warm.

Between two sizes: which one should you choose?

If your measurement falls between two sizes, the choice depends in particular on the shape of your finger and the ring model.

As a general rule, choose the larger size for more comfort. A ring should pass over the knuckle without excessive difficulty while still fitting closely enough not to slip off.

The width of the band is also important: a wide ring may require slightly more room than a slim model.

Does ring width affect the size?

Yes. The wider a ring is, the larger its contact surface with the finger. It may therefore feel tighter than a slim ring of the same size.

For a wide ring, it may be preferable to choose a slightly larger size. However, the choice depends on the model, its width, and the shape of your finger.

How do you know if a ring is the right size?

A well-fitting ring should be comfortable and stay naturally in place. It should pass over the knuckle with slight resistance, without feeling tight once worn.

If it leaves a significant mark or becomes uncomfortable, it is probably too small. Conversely, if it spins a lot or slips on easily, it is probably too large.

How do you find a ring size for a gift?

Would you like to give a ring without asking the size directly? If possible, discreetly borrow a ring the person already wears on the same finger and measure its inside diameter.

You can also ask a close friend or family member for advice. If in doubt, it is better to avoid guessing: our team can help you choose the most suitable solution.

Can a ring size be adjusted?

In many cases, a ring can be enlarged or reduced to fit the finger better. However, the possibility and extent of resizing depend on the model, the metal, the presence of stones, and the ring’s design.

Before any modification, a jeweler must therefore inspect the piece in order to determine the appropriate solution without compromising its appearance or strength.

Have your size measured at a jewelry store

For an accurate measurement, you can also have your finger measured directly at a jewelry store using a professional ring sizer.

Our Gil Bonnet & Sons team advises you by taking your finger into account, as well as the chosen ring model, in order to determine the most suitable size.
