Tissot PRX – The sport-chic icon of the 1970s
The Tissot PRX traces its origins to a Seastar Quartz model launched in 1978 (see it on the Tissot website), recognizable by its angular case and integrated steel bracelet. Unlike the dive Seastar we know today, the 1978 model stood out with its slim profile and sport-chic look, true to the major watchmaking trends of the time.
The name PRX appears shortly after, as an acronym designating certain Seastar watches, and referring to its main features:
In 2021, Tissot brought the PRX back as a collection in its own right, reinterpreting the iconic tonneau-shaped 1978 case in a contemporary approach. Staying true to the original, it keeps its integrated steel case and timeless sport-chic style, becoming one of the brand’s most popular lines.
The movements of the Tissot PRX
The Tissot PRX collection offers two distinct movements: the quartz version, known for its precision and everyday reliability, and the automatic Powermatic 80 version, appreciated for its Swiss mechanics and 80-hour power reserve. Two approaches, one iconic design.

The different configurations of the Tissot PRX
The Tissot PRX comes in several sizes to suit all wrists: 25 mm, 35 mm, 38 mm, 40 mm and 40.5 mm, as well as 42 mm for the chronograph version. It is available in stainless steel, in two-tone finishes, or with a gold PVD coating depending on the models.
The dials offer a wide range of colors — blue, black, silver, green, gold, champagne, copper, pink, or anthracite — with sun-brushed, brushed, or textured finishes.
The bracelets, mainly with integrated steel, can also be replaced with leather or rubber thanks to the quick-release attachment system.
Despite this variety, all Tissot PRX watches share the same identity: a case that sits flush with the bracelet, meticulous construction, water resistance up to 100 meters, and a sport-chic aesthetic inspired by the 1970s.
