Tissot’s legacy
Founded in 1853 in Le Locle, in the heart of Swiss watchmaking, Tissot was born from the collaboration between Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile. The family business originally made pocket watches signed Tissot & Fils – Le Locle, known for their precision and the quality of their finishing.
Very early on, the brand distinguished itself through its international openness, notably by exporting its watches to Russia from the end of the 19th century. True to its original craftsmanship, Tissot continues today this tradition of excellence and innovation that has earned Swiss watchmaking its reputation.
Tradition and innovation
Since the end of the 19th century, Tissot has stood out for its ability to combine the watchmaking tradition of Le Locle with constant technical advances. The brand has developed precise and reliable movements while exploring new materials and manufacturing processes.
Among its most notable models are the Tissot Antimagnetic (around 1930), the RockWatch (1980s), and the T-Touch (late 1990s)—each illustrating an important step in the brand’s evolution.
Even today, collections like the PRX, the Le Locle, the Chemin des Tourelles, or the Seastar reflect this continuity between traditional know-how and technical innovation.
Worldwide presence and recognition
Today, Tissot is part of the Swatch Group, the largest watch group in the world. The brand is distributed in more than 160 countries through a network of boutiques, authorized resellers, and official partners.
Recognized for the reliability and precision of its watches, Tissot is also active in sports timing. It provides official timekeeping for several international disciplines, including basketball (FIBA, NBA), cycling (Tour de France, UCI), and motorsports (MotoGP).
This global presence and these partnerships reinforce Tissot’s reputation as a major player in today’s Swiss watchmaking.
